director
Johnvey Huang’s awesome Delicious Director is a high speed bookmark viewer for del.icio.us. Reminiscent of the Smalltalk browsers of old, it is implemented entirely in Javascript and runs entirely within the browser.

This is an amazing piece of software.
I have just started using del.icio.us seriously, but I had one reservation about it, which was the difficulty in retrieving the data once it is in there. The direc.tor addresses this problem in the perfect way.
If the author agreed, would there be a possibility of integrating this into del.icio.us itself?

I really like the director interface, however I like the del.icio.us interface as it is too… I would be pleased with some form of integration, but I would want both interfaces still

Oh, another thought, what about director for public areas?

Director is quite good; I would use it instead of the normal delicious page except for two missing features- first, director doesn’t have bundles, and second it doesn’t show me thumbnails of my bookmarks using the Firefox BetterSearch plugin. If it had those 2 features it really would be awesome! (although I know bundles have only recently been implemented and the thumbnails is down to the bettersearch plugin writers not delicious developers)

out of curiousity, who funds del.icio.us? i assume it takes quite a bit of bandwidth and maintenance, not to mention developement.
donations? sponsors? manna from the heavens? what?
congrats on some very nicely implemented very nice ideas.

Director doesn’t do just tags. For instance, if I’m viewing boookmarks tagged with “art” it will also display bookmarks tagged with “earth”, because it contains the word art. While I don’t think they intend for it to work this way, I can see in some cases how this may be handy but it’s definately unexpected.

Director is very VERY good! It does need support for tag bundles though.

Very nice. I’m new to Both delicious and director and pretty excited. Is there away to get thro to director in one click, rather than click for delicious, then click for director?

Speaking of del.icio.us user interface, I just released Revealicious http://www.ivy.fr/revealicious , which is a set of interactive visualizations for del.icio.us - it is maybe not as useful as director, but it trie to represents things “differently”.

Too true. I am also interested in how del.icio.us is being funded just so I can have the confidence in knowing that if I have to go to a remote area of the Philippines for a month (I’m not kidding), that when I come back that it won’t be gone :-)
