And I’m Britta Gustafson (the one on the left), which may sound vaguely familiar if you’ve ever complained to support@del.icio.us, because I’m probably the person who answered you. I actually used to respond to all the emails from my dorm room between classes, annoying my roommate with endless typing and mumbles of “import…tags…passwords…gmrhhhf.” But summer finally arrived, and then I got whisked away to a few hundred miles north, where I am immersed in del.icio.us-ness without the distractions of things like uh, education. Yes, I’m the official summer intern now, working on support and other community-related projects (you’ll see). So keep sending us comments, questions, suggestions, kvetchings, and ideas. They’re very helpful to us, and I enjoy reading the crazy things you guys come up with.

Hello world - I’m Les Orchard. I’ve been a long-time fan and user of del.icio.us, developer of del.icio.us mash-ups, and recent author of Hacking del.icio.us. The obvious next step in this evolution is to be fully assimilated into the del.icio.us cube. So as of this week I have joined the del.icio.us team out in sunny California.
Dealing with a cross-country move and new employee orientation, my head’s still spinning faster than my hard drive platters. But, very shortly, I’ll be pitching in to help enhance and expand del.icio.us. I’m hoping to make use of lessons I picked up in writing my last book, as well as any other tricks I’ve stuffed into my head over the years. I’m not allowed to talk about all the ultra-awesome stuff on the horizon, but I can say that I’m geeked to be here!

Many of you use our Firefox extension, which makes it easier to save and use your del.icio.us bookmarks. Since we have a lot of Internet Explorer users too, we have just released an extension for IE that adds those same buttons to Redmond’s favorite browser. It runs on Windows 2000 and XP and supports IE 5.5, 6, and 7 (betas 1 and 2). Please give it a try and let us know what you think.
We’ve also added a little feature to help you keep track of new links that people have sent you. Any time someone tags a link with “for:your username”, we now show the number of new links up at the top of the page. To clear the counter, simply visit the links for you page.
Finally, we’ve released support for TypePad Widgets, which let you add your del.icio.us linkroll and tagroll to your TypePad blog without having to edit your templates.
