for users of our firefox extension
Last night, we pushed an upgrade to our Firefox extension via addons.mozilla.org. Because we tweaked and improved lots of things, upgrading triggers a full download of your bookmarks from del.icio.us. Normally this process takes seconds and is practically invisible but the load on our servers were much greater than we expected and they melted as a result.
We’ve unmelted the servers so those of you with missing bookmarks in your del.icio.us Bookmarks extension should be seeing them soon, as the issue will resolve itself. If you need immediate access to your bookmarks, go to Tools -> Options in Firefox, click the del.icio.us tab, and click “Sync Now”. Otherwise, our servers and I would appreciate it if you waited, it should take no more than a few minutes for your extension to automatically grab your bookmarks now that we are up again.
Thanks for your patience and sorry about any problems this may have caused.

Which firefox extension is this? The one I have that I thought was the official del.icio.us Firefox extension doesn’t do any sync or have those options, so I downloaded a different one and it didn’t seem to have it either… is there a link from a delicious page to this extension? the one at http://del.icio.us/help/firefox/extension is a different one right?

It seems that they haven’t updated it on their own site. The new version is available on addons.mozilla.org, though: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3615/

Would this have hosed the API? I’m pulling my bookmarks in via your API, and my site is currently crashing because I’m doing operations on data that is empty.

I am no longer using del.icio.us now because of this upgrade. This changed the way I access a feed from my address bar. Instead of being able to click the rss button when a feed is available and change the url to the feed url, so that I can drag the feed into my aggregator, it now tries to save the feed with del.icio.us. I don’t want that, but don’t know how to change that, so until that time I will have to use Diigo or Ma.gnolia.

I’m with Tac Anderson. When the RSS icon shows up in my Firefox address box, I should be able to click on it, and add the feed to my prefered aggregator - in my case, Bloglines, not del.icio.us. I don’t think that should be any surprise… since when has del.icio.us seen itself as an RSS aggregator?
Please, please remove this function - or at least, give me the ability to choose. Otherwise, some positive improvements in this update… but you’re letting yourselves down by stealing my RSS subscription button.

Hi,
I’ve been happily using the FF plugin to manage my bookmarks, but the most recent update (1.4.25) seems to have broken something. My error console is filled with error messages.

I can reproduce those error message via :
1) bringing up the Tools | Options panel
2) Manage Favorites
3) Manage bundles
Also, I see BOTH the Menubar selections for “Del.icio.us” and classic “Bookmarks”, even tho I have “hide bookmarks” checked.
ps: a) I am logged in (options panel has my username)
b) I have tried to sync (same slew of errors)
c) I have tried to uninstall / re-install / delete plugin folder
d) I have disabled all my other plugins except native mox ones (DOM Inspector / talkback)
pps: wow, this bug report looks incoherent w/o line breaks. :(

What happen with default action when clicking on RSS icon (in address field)? I get “Add as Live bookmarks to delicious”. What about my default settings, about default rss reader?!!!
I’m really pissed off.
Michael | Feb 24 2007 at 6:08 am
I don’t have the problem with the RSS icon. When I click on it it gives me the option of either del.icio.us or my default reader. Works great. Thanks!

RSS icon hosed here (latest Firefox on the Mac).
Uninstalling.
joshua | Feb 24 2007 at 4:13 pm
the RSS thing is a bug, not intentional. We’re not an RSS reader and shouldn’t do anything with that. We’ll look into it shortly.
there is also the buttons-only firefox extension at http://del.icio.us/help/firefox/extension if you want a less integrated experience.

Could this explain why my site doesn’t show up on delicious?
macdet | Feb 27 2007 at 5:50 am

I’am a really big fan of tagging and bagging.

Hi all,
This is Nick, PM for the Firefox extension. We just fast-tracked a new release which is now up on http://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3615 (existing users should be auto notified of the upgrade) which should take care of the RSS preferences bug. Thanks for your patience and sorry about any frustration this may have caused.

Why, why, why isn’t https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3615 even mentioned on http://del.icio.us/help/firefox/extension ? I didn’t even consider visiting the parent page http://del.icio.us/help/firefox/ which has all the info.
