Internet Explorer now officially more del.icio.us
For those of you who use Internet Explorer with del.icio.us, we’re announcing today the official release of the Delicious Bookmarks Add-on for Internet Explorer. In a nutshell, this extension brings you many of the best features of the Delicious Bookmarks Extension for Firefox while introducing a few new features of its own.
This extension works with XP and Vista for IE6 and IE7. IE8 should also work, but IE8 support is still in beta, since that browser isn’t final. Please go to our delicious-ie-extension group for comments and feedback regarding IE8.
Enjoy!
For more details on the IE extension, check out our original beta announcement. For the eager and impatient, download from our website.

Jesus Christ, when will you fix this “plugin” to work with non-administrative accounts? I’m installing it as an admin, and then try to let my non-admin users use it and it does not allow tagging, the sidebar doesn’t open, how do you expect anyone to use this?

divine logix | Jun 20 2008 at 6:51 am
There is no integration with IE’s sidebar, like you get with Firefox. Persistent log-in state is also not present. You solve a problem of universal-in-sync bookmarks, and then you create a new problem of additional steps/chores to use the initial solution. Fix these please. Thanks.

So…now that Joshua has left Yahoo, along with all the other high-level execs abandoning the sinking ship like rats, will del.icio.us go away? Will the IE extension ever get fixed so it actually works? Will all the silly Yahoo-forced “improvements” to del.icio.us be removed?

[…] Internet Explorer - more del.icio.us: Last month we unleashed an early beta release of an Internet Explorer version of our del.icio.us bookmarks extension. And this week you can now officially begin to enjoy social bookmarking on Microsoft Windows XP and Vista operating systems. While the features are similar to its Firefox 3 extension counterpart, this little number also has more unique additions including faster searching within larger accounts of bookmarks and signals for new network activity and links for you. Why should I believe you? Yahoo is circling the drain, and you’ve consistently failed to deliver on 2.0.
Bart | Jun 24 2008 at 7:32 am
IE Ctrl D does not copy the highlighted text to the notes of the bookmark.
Thought you should know.
Thanks for the update!
Still very anxiously awaiting the new DEL.ICIO.US.
Is it true that you will wait to release this on Del.cio.us’ birthday ???
With all the notices that you are all working hard on this I am starting almost startting to expect a lot… but can not do this knowing it is a free product right…
Anyway hope it is significant as some friends are trying to convince me to go elsewhere (not interested to smell that flower…)

first — i really love delicious. but — why is there no development on this excellent idea for several years?! omg, what are you doing? please, do something, improve it, make it faster, make it more user friendly … this is so disappointing
Dennis | Jun 30 2008 at 4:00 am
Hi delicious team,
I give you the will power. Keep up all good work.
I am not sure about all other people problems but since I use Firefox and it’s seem no problem to me.
Thank you.

Buechereierlei | Jul 4 2008 at 12:31 am
I have to use IE7. Very nice idea the favorites!
At first it worked, but now I always have links that are definitely not my “favorites” and others with the correct tag don’t appear. :-(
JDPower | Jul 4 2008 at 12:44 am
Aloha, I am a newbee here but I have found the tagging to be selective. Is there a way to get all the correct original tags set
that I have input, or will this continue?
Britta Gustafson | Jul 6 2008 at 8:03 pm
Buechereierlei and JDPower: I think I need more details before I can figure out what’s going wrong. Email feedback -at- del.icio.us with your username and the URLs or tags that are misbehaving, and I’ll try to help.

I dont really see the need for IE plugin - Fireforx has all I need in it plus much more.
I would rather have some new features for FF.

Is it compatible even for the latest version of IE 8 Beta?
Billigflug | Nov 24 2008 at 2:01 am
I’ve tested it with IE 8 Beta and advide against for the moment. It’s just too early.

I am a dyed in the wool FireFox user, but am glad that the IE users can have some joy by having their favourite social bookmarking service integrated with the horror of a browser they just can’t let go….almost like cigarettes and junk food, I suppose!
