As some of you already know, del.icio.us quietly released a newer, much spiffier search engine about two weeks ago. I can assure you that it would have been a much louder release had hurricane Wilma not cut my services shortly afterwards. I’m back now, and I’m happy—damned proud, actually—to announce our fully armed and operational search engine. Go try it!
By the way, here are some details about the new query syntax. It’s dead easy: Enter some words, and you’ll get back links that contain all of them: bacon lettuce tomato finds BLTs.
The search engine goes through tags, page titles, extended descriptions… the works. Tags can be searched exclusively, though. Prefix tags with “tag:” like so: tag:bacon.
The purists out there might want to search for BLTs specifically. They’re welcome to look for “bacon lettuce and tomato” as a phrase. Note the quotes.
Maybe you can take or leave bacon. Maybe you also like tofu sandwiches. You’re the kind of person who’ll love the OR operator and parentheses: (bacon OR tofu) lettuce tomato gets you BLTs or the tofu, lettuce and tomato variety.
Vegans can use the - (minus) prefix to exclude meat products: lettuce tomato -bacon -ham gets you salads.
The search engine also supports AND, which is almost never needed because it’s the default. There’s also NOT to negate a term. Most of the time the minus prefix will work. We even support XOR, which is a bit funky: (bacon XOR ham) cheese gets you bacon and cheese, or ham and cheese, but not bacon, ham and cheese.
But you probably almost never need to worry about all that. The simple keyword searches are a lot of fun by themselves.

I love music. But I hate when three applications fight over which gets to play it when I click on the links at http://del.icio.us/popular/system:filetype:mp3 . So I decided to do something about it: you will now notice a
to the left of every mp3 link. Go ahead, click on it and enjoy the peaceful beauty when the music just plays.

A tag bundle is just a group of related tags you can use to organize your tag cloud. It’s a handy feature, but the interface for managing bundles has left quite a bit to be desired. One of the things we included in our release last weekend is a new interface that should make bundles a lot easier to use. To try it out, just go to your bookmarks page and click ‘arrange tags’ under ‘options’ at the bottom right.

Many blogging platforms work well with del.icio.us. But if you are looking for a really simple way to have your latest del.icio.us bookmarks displayed as part of your website, you might want to try our linkrolls. Using it is as simple as pasting a line of HTML into your blog sidebar.
Instead of forcing a specific style, we’ve tried to make them unobtrusive enough that they should blend in with the look of your blog. You can also get your bookmarks as a javascript object, if you want to use them in your own script.

We’ve released the new recommendation engine. If you have more than ten urls saved in a tag, you will be offered several urls as well as other people’s tags that the system thinks you will be interested in. The URL pages also now offer the chance to see other related URLs.

We’ve just begun rolling out support for tagging items for others. To do so, use "for:username" where username is the name of the user you want to send the item to.
You can see items tagged for you at http://del.icio.us/for/ (it’ll redirect to your own page, which other users will not be able to see.)

I have had a hard time discovering new music since MTV Amp went off the air. Lately, I occasionally hear a neat snippet in a car commercial and in the interstitials at Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. So, help me find new music, please bookmark some mp3’s with the tag “for:joshua” and I will listen. To make this easier for myself and everyone, del.icio.us now has special support for media.
Bookmarked items in del.icio.us that end in one of a number of filetypes will now automatically get some system tags added. You can use these just like normal tags. RSS feeds that have one of those system tags added will automatically become a rss-with-enclosures file.
The tag “system:media:audio” includes
